David Halls - Conductor

 

David was educated at Harrogate Grammar School and Worcester College, Oxford, where he was Organ Scholar.  He passed both the Associateship and Fellowship Examinations of the Royal College of Organists in the same year.  After gaining his degree in Music, he was Organ Scholar at Winchester Cathedral and also obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at King Alfred's College. 

 

From 1985 he held posts at Salisbury Cathedral School and the Cathedral before becoming Director of Music at the Cathedral in September 2005.  David has toured France, Holland, Italy, the United States and, recently, Latvia with the Cathedral choirs and has appeared as conductor, accompanist and soloist on numerous recordings. 

 

He recently conducted performances of Britten's Church Parables and, for BBC TV, Noyes Fludde in the Cathedral.  David is also active as composer with works published in this country and in the USA.  He is conductor of both SMS and Salisbury Symphony Orchestra.
